Tempeh is a food product that favored of Indonesian people by the number of annual average consumption is 5.2 kg/capita or consumed more than three times a week because it has a complete nutritional content. However, the high demand for tempeh not comparable with domestic soybean fulfillment. It’s shown that Indonesia still imports to 3.38 million tons soybean per year which 50% of them are thought to be a genetically modified soybean. Whereas, Indonesia rich with source of nuts, one of them is cowpea with the productivity reach 1.5-2.0 tons/ha. Another problem, tempeh is perishable food commodities, whereas Indonesian government announced to make tempeh as one of Indonesian export commodities. The solution offered is TEKAT SI GOGON which is a modification of tempeh with complete nutrition of cowpea-based preservation method using coconut water and vacuum packaging to extend the shelf life of tempeh as long as distribution abroad. Advantages of TEKAT SI GOGON is complete with nutrient content that can compared with soybean tempeh nutrition, long shelf life of up to 14 days, also includes PIRT and nutritional information as well as the expire date at the packaging, helped to make the government realize the target tempeh as Indonesian export commodity. Other parties involved for TEKAT SI GOGON implementation is Ministry of Agriculture Department, LPPOM-BPOM-MUI for product certification, DEPDAG RI as a facilitator for export products, and manufacturers as cowpea supplier. While the implementation steps are publication TEKAT SI GOGON, make agreements with related parties, producting TEKAT SI GOGON, and marketing (distribution) on a national scale as well as export. In order to obtain the output of the independence of Indonesia through diversification and food security.
